Text selection issues in wayland

I noticed text selection doesn't always work in wayland. Here's what I found:

Situation 1:
-Select some text, by clicking then dragging
-While the text is still selected, try to make a new selection, by clicking a different piece of text, and try to drag-select that

Result: the cursor will move with the mouse, but no selection is made

Situation 2:
-Press CTRL + F to bring up the search window
-search for a piece of text that exists in the document (this will select the text)
-click drag somewhere, to select a different piece of text
-Same problem

So I guess in general it's just about making a selection while there already is one
