Select nearest by keyboard

Hi, just found this in Gentoo's portage, tried it and like it very much(danke dafür :)

One thing I would love is to be able to select an entry via keyboard. For example, have a marker at the top, rotate the ring and on keypress, execute what is nearest to the marker. Alternatively (or and) make the same possible, but in any direction, so press (for example) the right key to launch whatever is at the 3 o'clock position.

Hi, bitte sehr :) You can make that possible already! Well, sort of. There's no marker visible, but the key actions run for the icon at 0 degree which is at the 3 o'clock position (since x = cos(0) = 1 and y = sin(0) = 0). In your .piedockrc file, you may find/put a statement like this:

key Return Launch

When you open the pie menu (what can also be done with the keyboard, see the trigger key directive in res/piedockrc.sample) and press Return, the command for the icon at the 3 o'clock position is fired. Of course, you can define any key (by its X11 name, find it in /usr/include/X11/keysymdef.h or use xev) and/or actions (have a look at the available action in res/piedockrc.sample).

That said, I really like the idea of having a visible marker. Especially if you can move that marker. I'll implement that as soon as I can allocate some time for it.

Thanks for the fast reply, seems I missed the "available actions: same as in button configuration" in the key-section and just thought it's not possible given the examples.

I'll try with the given approach, though the active one being at the right instead of top or bottom will take some getting used to, maybe make that configurable? Easiest approach maybe would be having a config setting to turn everything by X degrees.

As for the marker, a custom icon would be one option, personally "just" coloring the background of the active element would be good enough.
