Local DNS Records Sync?

With selective sync, is there something specific needed for local dns records to sync to replicas?

Short snippet of my sync settings from my docker compose:

    - SYNC_GRAVITY_GROUP=true
    - SYNC_GRAVITY_AD_LIST=true
    - SYNC_GRAVITY_AD_LIST_BY_GROUP=true
    - SYNC_GRAVITY_DOMAIN_LIST=true
    - SYNC_GRAVITY_DOMAIN_LIST_BY_GROUP=true
    - SYNC_GRAVITY_CLIENT=true
    - SYNC_GRAVITY_CLIENT_BY_GROUP=true
    - SYNC_CONFIG_NTP=true
    - SYNC_CONFIG_DNS=true
    - SYNC_CONFIG_DNS_EXCLUDE=interface,reply.host.force4,reply.host.IPv4,reply.host.force6,reply.host.IPv6

I too have the same question, with settings almost identical to yours I was expecting the local DNS records to sync but they don't

Mine sync with the same settings. I spent a bit double checking, and the exclude works if you put

    - SYNC_CONFIG_DNS_EXCLUDE=hosts

Are you sure everything else is working?

So I have a sort of similar query, but this may unfortunately be a "feature" of pihole v6 that was different in pihole v5. Namely I have piholes running in two different locations for my home and a weekend home. With a VPN running between both, I like to have all my local DNS records in sync, but I don't want the main DNS records sync'd up. Since in particular I use different upstream servers for DNS in both locations.

With orbital sync and pihole 5 this was fine, I only sync'd local, not the upstream DNS entries. But looks like both local and upstream servers are sync'd up with Nebula-Sync. And I admit I don't see a separate line item in Teleporter.

Any thoughts here how to separate out so I don't modify the upstream DNS entries?

Try

 SYNC_CONFIG_DNS_EXCLUDE=upstreams

I believe if you open up advanced settings at your URL/admin/settings/all you can exclude any of those API endpoints. I experimented a little to get mine figured out.

This indeed was the answer. I actually realized I also can't have full sync on for this to work, but rather selective syncing. Thank you!
