Closing and re-opening the extension window causes status updates to stop #14
Description
It's convenient to be able to close this extension window, but keep it running. This is because other extensions may connect to it and use it, and ultimately be the developer's focus. In that case this extension becomes more of a background utility.
However currently if someone closes and re-opens the extension UI, the status updates don't continue running on the UI. This makes it look like the extension has stopped.
