eslint Parsing error: "parserOptions.project"

Getting this eslint problem in all mounted lb3 example app's model files:

Parsing error: "parserOptions.project" has been set for @typescript-eslint/parser.
The file does not match your project config: lb3app/common/models/coffee-shop.js.
The file must be included in at least one of the projects provided.

It's not apparent from the examples/lb3-application how the tsconfig can be set up to fix this.
