Why is garbo spending meat to restore my MP just to cast Extract?

Only 30 source essence spent per day, the chips (500 meat) are 1/1000 drop rate, the files (10 meat) are 1/400 drop drop rate according to wiki.

Yet I am spending 80 meat on black cherry soda to restore my MP every few turns. Excluding restores for casting buffs, I see 129 instances in my log.
