I'd love it if it automatically renamed the chat using AI just like ChatGPT does.

I just tried the model gemma-3-4b-it-qat using image & text prompt and it did not name the chat by itself.

Would also love it if there was a button next to rename pencil icon that automatically renames chat using a basic model (that can be set in Settings)

I hate manually renaming it when AI can do the job. I use this all the time in Github Copilot, Windsurf, Cursor for Git Commits nowadays & would love the same if I'm to use LMStudio regularly.

LM Studio does have AI chat naming:
(⚙️Cog Wheel) -> App Settings -> Chat -> Chat AI Naming -> Dropdown to 'Auto' or 'Always'

I do agree with you on wanting an option to use a separate smaller model just for renaming rather than the model used for chats.

This should be enabled by Default. No reason for it to be disabled. Just for the sake of better UX.

I don't really care about separate smaller model (can use default model) but yeah it makes sense since all models can read the context & come up with a title I guess.

Oh now I realize I never saw the Settings Cog at the bottom right corner lol. First time opening it.
