Separate financial statement

Hi, thanks for developing such a great tool. I’ve noticed that some 10-K reports place their financial statements separately, meaning they are not located in Item 8 or Item 16. Instead, they are placed at the end of the 10-K report. Could you please extract this section and create a new item (perhaps called "financial_statement") in the extracted file for such cases?

I am aware that both types of financial statements usually start with "INDEX TO FINANCIAL STATEMENTS" or "INDEX TO CONSOLIDATED FINANCIAL STATEMENTS." Maybe you can capture the section titled "INDEX TO * STATEMENTS" that appears after Item 16 and treat everything from that point to the end of the file as the financial statements section?

hi! thanks for the feedback. Indeed, I verify that I've seen this too. It does not happen always but it does happen sometimes.

Tbh, during this time period, I am busy with other stuff so I won't find time to contribute towards the software.

However, feel free to introduce any PR yourself if you want.

Some extra questions just to "pinpoint" this issue a bit better, so we understand the issue a bit better:

• When statements are not found in item 8/15 (or 16 as you say), they are then found at the end of the 10-k report? This translates to "after the end of item 15/16"? can you get a bit more specific? BTW, Item 16 is optional.
• Let's also think the other way around. In 10-Ks where the parsing right now is succesful, if you would search for these phrases "INDEX TO FINANCIAL STATEMENTS" or "INDEX TO CONSOLIDATED FINANCIAL STATEMENTS.", would you get anything returned? The problem with mostly rule-based parsing is that it is a bit hard to generalize the code for rare cases like this, since there are chances you "break" the parsing for all the other filings (ofc this does not mean a fix isn't possible)

Hi, please see my comments below for your questions.

1. If the financial statement can not be found in item 8/15, then it mostly like can be found after the signature part. The signature always at the end of the 10-K report, that's why I said the financial report can be found at the end of the 10-K report. Please see below for an example.

2. I reviewed several reports and found that some "INDEX TO * STATEMENTS" sections indeed appear in item 8 or 15. Therefore, I believe it would be safer to extract the "INDEX TO * STATEMENTS" only if it appears after item 16. I also think this scenario is not uncommon; out of 490 tickers I downloaded, 90 fall into this case.
