How to use Enum as a value and type in a struct, doesn't work when deriving sqlx::Type

i have this enum:

#[derive(Debug, Clone, PartialEq, Eq, Default, sqlx::Type)]
pub enum Gender {
    #[default]
    M,
    F,
}

and my struct that have a field with Gender type:

pub struct Users {
    pub id: DefaultPrimaryKeyType,
    // --redact
    pub gender: Gender,
    // --redact
}

and my query:

async fn get_user_by_username(&self, name: &str) -> Result<Users, sqlx::Error> {
        let query = query_as!(Users, r#"
            SELECT 
                    users.*, gender as "gender: Gender"
            FROM users WHERE name = $1"#, 
            name)
            .fetch_one(&self.pool)
            .await?;

        Ok(query)
    }

but I get this error:

unsupported type Gender of column #11

How can I make this work? My database is postgresql.

Try listing out all your columns. Since you're doing SELECT users.*, all the columns in the users table will selected. Then, you're asking for the gender column again. Instead, try this:

SELECT users.id, users.gender as "gender: Gender" FROM users WHERE name = $1

You might not even have to provide the as "gender: Gender" part, thought I'm not certain.
