are the optimization Logic and cultist diagrams sketch-up dependent? Obviously its dependent, but could this code be easily(subjective) isolated to run without sketch-up? I'm building an open source Cabinet Door Calculator and would be awesome to implement this into my program.

The optimization algorithms will change with version 7.0.0. The current algorithm for 2D is a loosely based on this one. The 1D code is a custom meta algorithm using subset sums. There is no plan to release the code.

Thank you, are you talking about the 1D Bin Packing PackEngine. are you saying no plan to release the 2d code and the 1d code?

Yes, we do not plan to release the 1D/2D code to run outside of OpenCutList. The next algorithm is based on PackingSolver, because it will also support nesting.

very cool, thanks for the info. this is just a little project for me(my first real program) so i'm not going to go crazy with it and create one from scratch. I love the opencutlist wish there was a standalone version but its a great extension. Lots of cultist programs for nesting and panel goods but hard to find a good one for dimensional board stock.

No, it is OpenSource, but you would have to extract and fix it yourself. If you are looking for a 1D packing algorithm, search for "first fit decreasing". This is not optimal in some cases, but it will be very fast.
