[feat] markdown editor from markdown component

Describe the problem

Im really not sure if im right ,but as far as i can tell building with the template UI , the markdown can only be rendered using this component but no way to edit ?

maybe I'm wrong and this can already be achieved, i can get the markdown to render in item deetails probably but many issue when try to make the edit note action that switch to a markdown quic markdown editor but yeah this is like the final piece to the puzzle for my extension .

I would like the markdown component that comes with kunkun to support edting or have another component called markdown_area /markdown_edit or whatver you want to call it ?

would also like a better markdown api stuff for getting , onchange , saving etc built in to kunkun

The current markdown component is a plain renderer without all the features you are looking for.
If you need text input from user, I believe the text field from form view supports textarea.
Or you need a WYSIWYG markdown editor like obsidian or typora?
This can be very complicated to implement, but we discuss it.

For now if you really need a complex feature like this, you have to write a custom command.
It supports any frontend framework or libraies.

A regular markdown editor like this https://github.com/BearToCode/carta
should be not too hard to integrate, but WYSIWYG editors are usually in React, this app is built with svelte.
The ecosystem of svelte isn't as mature as React's.

tbh this is overkill i think , even more minimal and extensible is what im looking for tbh jsut like real simple markdown text input Area component that supports markdown and can customize/extend and use with Kunkun API functions.

atm building an extension for KUNKUN and Obsidian

• it can currently open any note in obsidian
• show results for backlinks, links and tags for each note
• Fully formatted Obsidian Markdown Render Preview in the item details panel
• Can Easily switch to and add multiple vaults from obsidian
• Can click links/backlinks/tags to traverse through your notes and read them all directly in Kunkun

The Features im missing is

-markdown editor for creating and editing new note

i tried a bunch of hacky methods so far but not managed to succeed using the custom template UI .

tbh i think this component will get a lot of use across multiple app if was implemented as most AI tools require Markdown for reference so not jsut for this project but will be useful for many other applications within kunkun what i would love is either be able to edit the markdown render directly int he kunkun component in the item details pane would be amazing , but as an alternative i have made a whole other view for editing and and action called edit note which then takes the markdown rendered content and aim to put it in a form where we can edit and save but the forms don't support markdown formatting and i cant the text area etc to fit the whole note etc. , simple text editor component ,notepad like experience but in markdown would be AMAZING

looking at that carta project closer , i think thats would be good actually , its extendable and customizable lightweight it seems :)

so i started a project with the template UI , this might be a silly question but cant tell from the docs , can i combine custom commands with the template UI ? or do i have to re write the extension in one of the Custom types (react,svelte,vue etc )

and one more suggestion about havig native markdown editor component , in the picture this would below is imo the most graceful DX if this was possible just switch render to editor (if you want a editor or renderer) lol

Yes you can combine custom UI, template UI and headless command
Here is an example extension I built, with a video tutorial. It uses headless command instead of template, but they are pretty much the same in terms of setup.

However, it's easier to start with a custom UI template as it's more complex. See the youtube video for how I did it. It's very easy.

I was also interested in obsidian and is looking for some open source obsidian publish alternative like https://quartz.jzhao.xyz/ and https://dg-docs.ole.dev/

i don't have the repo public atm because no where near clean enough or finished or very hacked together prototype atm and lots of work

Astro Starlight has these obsidian plugins, looks pretty good, I am considering using them to host my obsidian notes for free and even use it in kunkun's docs
