Documentation for what --enable-annotation-validation actually does

I would like to find exact documentation of the behaviour of --enable-annotation-validation.
Which annotations are allowed?
What content of annotations is allowed?
What is not allowed?

Specific documentation regarding server-snippet and configuration-snippet would also be appreciated.
