doing av1 encoding on the CPU is very slow. Will you use the AV1 support in Vulkan to act as a speed booster when available?

I don't plan to use hardware AV1 video encoders.
As far as I know, they're not sophisticated enough, and don't aim for high quality and good compression at levels required to make AVIF competitive with other image formats.

Encoding accelerated using GPGPU (general compute shaders) might be possible, but that's a feature request for rav1e.
