Thanks for suggesting this! There are actually a number of commands that I support for searching a pattern in a set of files. Take a look at the menu casual-editkit-search-tmenu to see if this covers your needs. I also recently made a post on reporting rgrep results by most recently modified file. This work could be extended to generalize input arguments as a menu interface, but TBH I think that figuring out a way to make such an interface usable to be daunting.
