Hi - I'm not able to reproduce this on macOS with the correct syntax:

% jello _.popupTitle.message -f messages.json
"Управление SmartProxy"

Is this only happening on Windows?

On my end, it is Windows 7 SP1 x64.

Does the same or similar error message appear when you cat the file to jello instead of opening with -f?

I'm not 100% sure how to fix this. My best guess is to specify UTF-8 encoding when opening the file via the -f option.
