Multi tier combobox

Could be nice to have a multi tier combobox, I haven't seen anybody do it with shadcn.

I was able to do this with v0, but we could benefit to have something that is battle tested.

We’re currently looking at this. Would you prefer built-in support for Combobox, or an example component that’s based on Combobox?

Since the component is complicated. And I will use with dynamic data. I think having an example component it could be useful - I'm not sure if you can do it with just combobox, but up to you.

@sean0205 in case it's helpful, I think this could be done here soon with what Base UI is working on.

Base UI is set to release their Combobox as stable tomorrow. I think this could be a pretty nice addition to the Base UI components section and has most of the bells and whistles handled by Base UI.

I've been watching all sorts of shadcn registries waiting for this, would happily try and contribute help since it seems like most are missing a well implemented multi select/autocomplete/combobox that isn't hacked together on top of cmdk.

@sean0205 I don't see how that combobox will allow me to select subcategories without typing.

Don't have an incredible amount of time to contribute to this, and need to do a bunch more nit picking since stuff like the <Input /> variants from CVA don't really match what I have so far, but I started on something for this that would use Base UI's:
