Incredible stuff man, I'm beyond impress that you and a handful of others have taken up the challenge of creating my printer – as I'm sure you've discovered it is not exactly "plug and play" haha |

Did I misunderstand how long of a 5mm rod was needed? I swear I read 50mm somewhere -- so that's all I got. I've been having a hell of a time with the PLA extruder mount -- that's why I tried beefing it up. Just cracked the one that I spent 3 hours printing today :-( Anyway, since I now have M3 printed T-nuts, I am running short of M3 x 8mm screws. |

You read correctly; I just wanted to have enough for design changes and was more interested in taking pictures than in getting out the hacksaw. :) If your extruder mount isn't proving up to the strain, you might try incorporating the axle flange the way I did, also matching the thickness of the flange (if you haven't already). Also, there's no physical limit (with the exception of the extruder nozzle itself) to the dimensions perpendicular to the axle, so you could extend it out that way for extra stability, and also wrap it around the fan housing, as long as it doesn't interfere with the cooling duct. If I understand correctly, PLA is a fine material and can be less prone to splitting at the layers than PETG, and I don't think temperature stability will be an issue when it's so far away from the actual extruder. |

I just wanted to share this picture now that it's just about all assembled. I'm still waiting for one linear rail and have to figure out how to attach the (heated!) bed, but it's definitely starting to look like a printer unlike anyone's ever seen before!

I picked the transparent green PETG on a whim, but I think the contrasting colors help to do this amazing design justice. It really is a work of art. I ordered black button screws by mistake but have been using them as much as possible for the same reason.
