Request for new template "quick start" repo #50

@Arielle-Bennett

Description

@Arielle-Bennett

@KirstieJane, Jim Madge and myself are currently prepping for the "Build a Jupyter Book" workshop at JupyterCon in November #42

As part of our discussions we've hit upon the idea of having a template repo in the Jupyter-Book org that would:
a) support future workshops or self-directed learning alongside the existing documentation for building Jupyter Books
b) showcase examples of new functionality for people to play around with and edit themselves
c) could also act as teaching material for other communities looking to utilise Jupyter Books

People would be able to fork the repo to quickly get to a point where they could start customising the scaffolding, reducing barriers to uptake.

Something along these lines of a quick start template repo already exists in another organisation, which has surfaced based on Discord discussions. We're therefore interested in having a community discussion about whether it would be beneficial for there to be a version of this quick start template repo which closely mirrors the "Getting started" documentation in this organisation. It would increase maintainer burden since new functionality would have to be added to the example repo when releases are made, but there are some clear benefits to an exemplar repo, in my opinion.

Happy to chat about this further or to be part of the team building this if it's something folks are happy to have!
