A lot of software and players makes predetermined assumption for "Top Tracks" in artist profile. It's usually tracks sorted by popularity (Ex: most played as in Finamp or for example most popular pulled from external services like Last.Fm etc.)
For discography "completionists" there is a need for a user's own custom curated list of "hits" (as determined by user) from the entire artist discography.
Sure, this can be done using an artist playlists, typical to "Essentials" (Apple Music) or "This is ..." (Spotify) type of playlists.
While those artist playlists can offer a solution, it will clutter your other various playlists in the Playlists page (basically having one "essentials" playlist for each album artist)
So, here comes my idea for this problem ...
Leverage the "Top Tracks" section in the Artist Profile for this particular reason (a custom curated list of artists best songs)
Use the already available "Favorite" function as a criteria for this list (ex: pull all songs from an artists that are favorited by user)
This "Top Tracks" section should also have a Queue / Play function (not sure how can be solved in the UI/UX)
To make this customizable ... implement a setting to allow user to customize what criteria is used for displaying "Top Tracks" in Artist Profile: Most Played, Favorited etc. ... or even allow for an "All Songs" setting.
This will be huge for me as will allow to have this curated "best of" tracks, chosen by me, in the artist profile and play them easily, without having to make individual playlists of my faves for each artist.
Hopefully Jellyfin's own UI will follow implementing this :)
Thanks for or the love and hard work you poured into Finamp so far !
