Not sure how to set barbell to 10 kg for a session #1263
-
Hi, I am trying to set the barbell to 10 kg for one of the sessions. I have found the Plates, collar and barbell page where I should be able to set the barbell weight, but when selecting 10 kg it still shows a 20 kg barbell. The 15 kg barbell does work, even in a male session, but for some reason the 5 and 10 kg barbells are not working. Is there a setting I missed in the page itself in the session setup, please? This is happening on both the 57.1.0 and 58.0.0 versions of the software. Did not post it in issues since I might have forgotten something |

Update, custom 10 or 5 kg barbell does work for some reason. Does the software have some rules regarding the age group/gender/bodyweight with regards to the barbells? |

The software, by default, uses the most solid bar for the requested weight. The checkboxes state the available bars and discs. So in a children's competition with the big 2.5kg plates available, you should get the 10kg bar + 2 x 2.5 large plates. When the bar is not the standard weight for the athlete gender, it is shown in color (same color as the plates), otherwise it is grey. If you want to force a bar, just use the custom bar. |

With large children competitions, the wear and tear on the 10kg bar makes a difference, which is why USAW adopted this approach, and we adopted it in the software |

It uses the least number of discs, and uses bumper plates when available. It uses clips instead of collars until the weight in the box
is reached (in actual practice, you could pretty much use clamps-style collars until red plates are loaded as they are much simpler
to use than the collars.

But if you move to 20kg, owlcms will have switched to the 15kg bar because it is less fragile.
10kg bars nowadays are supposed to have the same diameter and k…
