MAX31856 not reading temperature

Hello! I am just getting into setting up the kiln-controller, and I am unable to read the temperature on the 56. When I run ./test-thermocouple.py, I get this in the terminal until a cancel out of it. I have a feeling that I'm setting up the thermocouple outputs wrong, but I've followed the wiring diagram and checked the config. I'm using an RPi 3 Model B, which I believe has the same pin out as the one in your diagram. Apologies if this is a dumb question, I'm not sure what might be wrong. Thanks in advance for any help!

Check.you tc connected right way round it won't work otherwise.
