used `global`

I don't see any threading going on here and as such using global just looks like novice work. If this is truly necessary I would like to understand why but as it stands, these global keywords are an offense.

Oh sorry for any offence, I love open source so much, in all regards. I was to convey, I don't have time/energy now, today, or probably soon; And that the lack of time and energy to focus on this stuff I love dismays me.
