Transparent padding

With padding=True applied to a png image, the padding has color (default is white).

Is it possible to make the padding transparent?

Where does the white default color come from?

The padding color comes from the THUMBNAIL_PADDING_COLOR setting (defaults to #ffffff). Could you try setting an alpha value: #ffffff00 to this setting?
