qjackctl on Rpi

I can't get qjackctl to start on a rpi5. I'll try to attach the Messages.

I'm using a hifiberry DAC+ADCPro sound card which seems to be recognized.

qjackctl is just a GUI frontend that starts jackd with the parameters specified in the config.
Looks like its trying to execute

/usr/bin/jackd -dalsa -dhw:sndrpihifiberry -r48000 -p128 -n2

and that's failing so qjackctl cannot connect to jackd.
You could try running that command from a terminal, adding -v option and see if any output can provide more useful troubleshooting info.

Configuring jackd can be a finicky thing, sometimes one needs to trial and error things until you find a working config, depending on your audio hardware.

A quick google search using rpi5 jackd returns https://discourse.zynthian.org/t/pi5-i2s-soundcards-jack-audio/9649/6 and https://community.blokas.io/t/issue-with-jack-setup-on-raspberry-pi-5-with-hifiberry-soundcard/5534 amongst many others. Maybe you need to specify the number of input and output hardware ports uing -i and -o options as suggested in those posts.

Once you get jackd working on the commandline, you can adjust the options in qjackctl to match.

Also, is there another sound server running, like Pulseaudio? That would have to be stopped before jackd can be run.

Adding -i 2 -o 2 doesn't seem to help. Adding -v to the command line generates messages that I can't interpret:

Please detail your testing methodology, its not clear from the messages what you did. Test with and without the -i/-o options, provide output from each command you've run, and check that you aren't running another sound server like Pulseaudio, that is critical.

I don't have one of these devices, but I expect its running some version of Linux, can you detail the distribution installed and version, you can get that info from cat /etc/os-release. Also provide output of uname -a.

I managed to burn out my hifiberry sound card by misconnecting it to the rpi connector. I now have a new sound card and I'm running it on a new OS installation and after adding -i 2 -o 2 options to the command, jack starts.
