One-way streets handled incorrectly for bicycles

For efficiency, it looks like r5r will now reverse origins/destinations for pedestrian and bicycle routing so that the number of origins is smaller than the number of destinations. Since bicycle routing respects one-way streets, this means that bicycles will be routed backwards on one-way streets if this occurs.

thanks for the heads up, @mattwigway . I guess we were not really considering the possibility if one-way streets for bikes. In this case, we should use the reverse optimization only bor walking trips.

Is it desired for bicycles to respect on-way street rules?

In my experience most one way streets I've been on (in Europe) have signs that say "One way, Bicycles Excepted". And even if there is no bicycles excepted sign, I personally as a cyclist, would still use the road to get to my destination more efficiently. I think that would be the behavior of most people, one way streets are usually pretty quiet.

I guess it's location dependent, because that's definitely not my experience in the US, most one way streets here are big multi lane streets in downtown areas. Contraflow bike lanes do exist, but they are rare and should be tagged in the OSM. In any case, the current behavior is wrong because bikes respect one way restrictions in the wrong direction.
