What should "Scan stock items" on stock container page do?

If I open "Scan stock items" menu in stock container I got page with barcode scanner and table with "Part / Location / Count" header. I've believed that when I scan stock item barcode it appears in this table and I can to choose amount if this stock items which will be moved to this container.

Instead I only get message that it was scanned and check in button is still disabled. Only after scanning one stock item twice it will commit this dialog (and all scanned stock items in all amount are moved to this container).

What I want to achieve and I hope that this feature can help me (but it's not working): I have a lot of boxes with cables, one cable type per box. When technician goes to install something he takes some sort of cables in some amount. So I hoped that I create some container name basket, he just select "scan stock items" on this container, than he scan every cable he took and it will be added in this container - every scan is every 1 piece of stock (or at least it will be possible to select amount of every stock item). And after that items in this containers will be deleted as they are installed and not already on stock.
