Replace selenium-wire dependency

selenium-wire library is used into Phishing Analysis Framework to keep track of all network traffic with the analyzed IOC. This is a fundamental part for analyst to evaluate and study the behavior of a website.

The problem: the repository has been archived since 3 Jan 2024 and the project is no longer maintained and it has already developed some incompatibilities with current selenium package. See wkeeling/selenium-wire#697 and wkeeling/selenium-wire#717

We can evaluate some alternatives to keep the functionality of the framework and using a maintained library. Any ideas on this ? 😄

Since Selenium-Wire is no longer maintained and has developed incompatibilities with the latest Selenium package, we should explore alternative libraries that provide similar network interception capabilities. Some potential alternatives include:

mitmproxy
BrowserMob Proxy
Playwright with HAR Recording
I’d love to help evaluate these options and test which one integrates best with the Phishing Analysis Framework. Let me know your thoughts!

I unfortunately couldn't find any fork of this library that is maintained nor any other python library that maintains an api similar to selenium-wire package.

Clearly there is no drop in replacement for this package out there. I guess our only alternative is to either fork it ourselves or wait for the community to come up with a viable alternative.

I already did some test with some of the alternatives that you mentioned but selenium seemed the most complete mix for screenshot capability, traffic dump and XPath support.
You can for sure evaluate the options that you mentioned and would be super useful! Other alternatives may be Splinter and Scrapy.
