Feature Request – Upload Additional Files During Installation

Summary

Introduce a feature that allows the uploading of additional files to servers during the k3s installation process, thereby simplifying custom configuration management.

Use Case

Allow the upload of a file to /etc/rancher/k3s/registries.yaml to configure a private registry as part of the deployment.

Current Behavior

There is no built-in support for uploading arbitrary files during the installation process.

Do you have a suggestion of how this could be implemented? And what are the requirements around the feature?

I think the file should not be uploaded to the gateway system. Are the files needed on all kubernetes nodes - control plane and worker nodes?

Another important aspect is that the maximum size of all files combined needs to be kept below ~30 kb if I remember correctly. There's a cloud-init limit.
