middle_click_paste = false does nothing

I tried setting middle_click_paste = false under misc in hyprland.conf, and it doesn't do anything, I tried in signal, chromium and featherpad, middle click pasting was always still on no matter the app

You apparently need to disable it in all your apps as well. For example, I was getting annoyed that this was happening in Firefox on Gnome, despite disabling middle click paste on Gnome Tweaks. Turns out Firefox has its own middle click paste function that I had to hack around and disable as well.

The poster above mentioned he is using Chromium, so I didn't post instructions (as I don't use Chrome). But yeah, a good one to have if you're using Firefox for sure. :)

Chromium does not seem to have a setting or flag for this. and there were other apps like featherpad which is a qt text editor. Firefox needing extra steps is well known, it's mentioned on the hyprland wiki.

I tested with featherpad on arch from the extra repo and can't reproduce the issue

You can tell it's middle click paste by how the selection wasn't overwritten.

It'll paste in featherpad, won't in the terminal tho, so maybe the setting is actually doing something after all, but most places where it matters it's not working.

Try using hyprctl keyword bind ',mouse:274,exec,;' in terminal

Also, make sure to disable middle click paste in any apps that have the config! I believe both Kitty and FIrefox have it.

this disbables the middle mouse button, that is not what I want, I only want to disable middle mouse paste.

I was informed a little bit after that misc:middle_click_paste requires reboot to actually function, albiet this is from last week so I hope you have rebooted since then
