hyprpm expects directory $XDG_RUNTIME_DIR/hyprpm to exist (and crashes if it doesn't)

Should have told me what's wrong, at least when using -v. Like "failed to write plugin state to file ...."

mkdir solved it for me right now, not sure if it will reappear after reboot.

Nope, but after. I had no reason to do so, at least I assumed it. The things update did let me assume otherwise :) But a hint in that regard would be more helpful than the error message above.

Edit: after restarting hyprland, the expected directory doesn't exist either. Adding now to my config to have something working:

exec-once = hyprpm update
exec-once = hyprpm reload -n

Which looks stupid and isn't documented as "this is what you need to use plugins".

it should only be needed once, and should not be $XDG_RUNTIME_DIR/hyprpm, but /var/cache/hyprpm/(username)/. What version are you on?

You're right - the username follows. But regarding the base directory: hyprpm acts in both /run/user/1000/hyprpm/ and /var/cache/hyprpm/. Haven't figured it all out yet, but this thread was created after checking strace - where it failed on the former.

hyprland is at 0.49.0, arch package.

it should create that itself. Can you post a log from running the faulty command with --verbose?

Had to prepare this again:

$ hyprpm purge-cache; rm -rf /var/cache/hyprpm/
$ hyprpm list

It cannot write into /run/user/1000/hyprpm/.temp-state because /run/user/1000/hyprpm/ does not exist.
