This would indeed be a very nice feature but it's a bit complicated as the annotations are removed when building using --aot. From my understanding it's possible to keep them when using custom decorators but not really sure how that would work or turn out as this component relies on the template from the root element. Another option would be to fetch the template from the dom after it's been rendered but then we would need to parse the html and remove things like _ngcontent-c7 etc. and re-add inputs and other attributes that are removed and this would be a nightmare so I'd strongly advice against it.

However, there are some pretty easy workarounds for apps compiled with aot. The easiest one would be to use the sources input instead and load the source files directly form github or wherever they reside. If the source code is unavailable, I'd advice writing a script and copy the files need for the snippets to assets and load them from there. Loading files using raw-loader is also another option, the only downside being that it's currently not possible to use selectors with files loaded using the raw-loader.
