Notification not displaying while volumectl and lightctl are working

Hello,

I'm having some trouble to get avizo work.

I'm running ubuntu 24.04 with swaywm on a 8"8 laptop using only the integrated monitor.

All installed apt packages are up to date, I installed the requirements and volumectl and ligthctl are working almost perfectly.

There is only one problem : it does not display the notification.
The volume is updated, the light is updated so it might not be related to pactl or brightnessctl.

Moreover, I checked on htop and it seems like avizo-service is running.

I also tried running avizo-client and it works (at least I can see the notification displaying with the defaults values which means the mute icon).

My config at the moment is really simple as I just played with x and y offset to center the notification a little bit (which seems to affect the result with the default display when running avizo-client).

Hey, I stumbled over your issue with probably the same or similar problem. Have you checked your keybindings in sway config? compare the instructions on the readme/first page here.

I've recently installed hyprland and the default keybindings for volume keys involve wpctl instead of pactl. that's why avizo doesn't indicate any volume change while volume change is indeed issued.

Here are two respective lines of my hyprland config:
bindel = ,XF86AudioRaiseVolume, exec, wpctl set-volume -l 1 @DEFAULT_AUDIO_SINK@ 5%+
bindel = ,XF86AudioLowerVolume, exec, wpctl set-volume @DEFAULT_AUDIO_SINK@ 5%-

I'm hesitating to paste pactl commands instead since I actively use pipewire and wireplumber and prefer it over pactl.

@heyjuvi might consider involving wpctl as an enhancement to avizo.
