Hmm as far as I’ve seen from other CJK users, it should display the characters, it’ll just display them spaced apart (#70). What do you get if you run echo $LANG? In your case you should get zh_TW.UTF-8 if this is all set up correctly. We try to get your iOS language/locale, but mapping that to a terminal locale code is tricky. If it can’t find a matching locale, it’ll fall back to en_US.UTF-8. You can also try checking /usr/share/locale to see if zh_TW.UTF-8 exists there.

(I just noticed we only check that exact /usr/share/locale path, and don’t look in /var/jb/usr/share/locale. That could be a bug?)

Also the chewing keyboard doesn't work on there at all

Also /usr/share/locale/UTF-8/LC_TYPE in the terminal looks like this

The locale files are binary, so you won’t really be able to see anything interesting in them. Can you try just:

ls /usr/share/locale/zh_TW.UTF-8

You may also need to set the CTYPE:

export LC_CTYPE=zh_TW.UTF-8

If that works, we should add that as one of the environment variables we set.

How about /var/jb/usr/share/locale/zh_TW.UTF-8 - does that exist? Also, did setting the CTYPE fix your prompt from the initial screenshot?

No, setting the locale doesn't fix the problem
And yes /var/jb/usr/share/locale/zh_TW.UTF-8 exists and has multiple files in them
