Fun project to build and tinker with .. I built the gCore fork galaga instead, but I am planning to build this multi-game project also.. once I figure out how to interface the parallel screen to Ada-GFX lib .. ?!
I have added a few ideas , I figured someone could use those ideas in their build:
-used ESP32 wemos lolin32 lite -- it has a battery charging circuit built-in for Li battery
-added Li-ion battery (an old cellphone battery) for portability, lolin32 charges it through USB automatically
-added on/off switch for the Li battery, which acts as a reset also
-housed everything in an empty transparent cassette-case for a cool retro feel and I also wanted it to be as small as possible .. parts are very squeezed , but they all fit .. reminded me of "Game&Watch" handhelds :)))
so far , this setup works great , it's almost like a micro-arcade Gameboy wanna be ;)
I had remapped many GPIOs for functionality .. see schematic attached, perhaps it can help someone for a similar build.
Thank you for this cool project .. I will upload more photos when I finish the fab
IN THE MAKING ...
FINISHED AND WORKING :))) === yes, it's ugly .. and I can probably paint the case .. but it's a lot cooler to show the DIY guts and the concept ;)
I will fully-charge and check battery-life .. and see how many play hours I can get ;)
