Units for numeric columns

Describe the problem to be solved

Numeric columns need a unit to describe what the number means. There is a special mode, which does this for currencies, but the selection is limited to a fixed list of currencies.

Describe the solution you would like

Basically the same as the existing currency format, except that

• there is a text field to enter any text to use as the unit. This text would be displayed after the column's numeric value.
• the decimals setting is not affected when changing the unit.
