Agent Engine Support for Memory?

It seems that deployment to Agent Engine today does not support memory. Can someone confirm this?

The memory service is managed by the runner, as is session which Agent Engine implicitly manages, but I don't see any way to configure an Agent Engine deployment with memory and there is no documentation around it.

I solved that by creating a "Memory Agent" backed by embeddings + a mini deployment of milvus vector DB for my homelab environment but yes there's nothing built in from what I could find either.

I am honestly missing the point of Agent Engine if everything is being done by cloud run
