Using sudo

I found the good solution for using sudo copy, move, rename, editing, viewing files.

This is a clever and attractive solution. I press CTRL+T, the letter S appears in statusbar (foreground black, background red), and when I do a copy, move, rename, open a file, etc., it automatically starts the command with a sudo. It gets the associated password and runs it. I think this is a very civilized solution. It would be worthwhile to develop this into it.

That's a nice idea, having modes for sudo mode. Until now, I've just used commands like rm -rf "$x" || sudo -A rm -rf "$x" to get around dealing with protected files, but I might start doing it that way if I begin managing more files not owned by my user

I tried the following code for alt-paste from Tips, but sudo verison doesnt work. Get error message: permission denied.
Whats the problem?

You have used if instead of lf but not sure if that is the issue. We might be using different shells

And how can I use if -remote "send $id :paste; clear; reload" with sudo? Because if I first authenticate with sudo -A -v that's not enough, and lf is not a typical shell command, so I don't think it works with that.
I use it in the Open section:
lf -remote "send $id $bash -c 'sudo -A $EDITOR "$file"'"
but there I call it as shell, and paste, clear, reload are built-in commands.
Actually, it would be good if this function was burned into the code itself.

Why are you calling lf remote with sudo instead of making commands use sudo? I think this can be done by user configs so it should not be in the code. Here is real case demo:

OK, but the copy, move commands when I redefine them (cp and mv) are not the same as the built-in ones, because the built-in one shows where it is in the bottom right corner with a % value, while the cp, mv command has no such this function. I could hack with rsync and others, but none of them shows normally. That's why it would be better to have it burned into the code.
