The GoboLinux 017.01 installation never completes.

I've tried it several times, but it always hangs at the line:
"generating grub configuration file ..."
If I interrupt the installation, only miniBASH will start after rebooting. I'm not a big Linux user, so I tried to fix the booting with AI Gemini, but it didn't work. I got to the point where grub rescue was running, but nothing more. After the command to generate the grub configuration file from the LiveDVD, this command still hung. AI Gemini told me that the content of grub.cfg, which we renamed from the original grub.cfg.new (grub.cfg didn't exist) is incomplete, but what AI advised me didn't help. I don't know where the problem is, the GoboLinux 017 installation will run normally. I'm not at the computer right now, but I know that it has a dual-core Intel Pentium, socket 1155 or something and 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD.

@AlekAaz fat32 is supported by our kernel. Your issue likely is related to the grub bug.

If you create partition table as msdos and format the partition to ext4, it works.

In my testing (yesterday), it works on UEFI/GPT as well. If it's not please create a bug report with reproducible steps.

I'll wait for the installation until next week then too. (On a side note, do we have a
simple way to publish short notifications on the gobolinux main webpage? A bit
like how voidlinux handles news entries, but perhaps just simpler. But that's just
an aside. I am not systematically reading issues on github, so my comments and
replies may be all over the place unfortunately; having short notifications on
the homepage may bundle news and new information.)

By the way, I am currently updating the ruby-related scripts I use for maintaining the
programs dataset I am using for compilation on Linux (primarily); right now I have
3856 registered programs in that dataset. I am probably not checking all gobolinux
recipes as of yet, but I should have covered many of them, and I can easily check
for all recipes in the github gobolinux in an automated manner. Once I have a
working GoboLinux machine, I'll more systematically test the recipes and try to
update when possible, at the least towards QT6 and KDE6. When hisham was more
active, GoboLinux came with KDE. I am able to compile all KDE-entries under
https://download.kde.org/stable/release-service/ for instance, or at the least most
of them (some have some weird, semi-rare dependency, and not all of them
work that well all of the time either). At the least KDE konsole and okular, as I
think people may want to use these two the most. Anyway, I'll get to this once
I can test the new gobolinux release later then - thanks for the update. \o/

I did the two required steps to update GRUB just now, before running the installer script (Installer)
on my second desktop computer, using these two commands, as shown in the .md file:

InstallPackage https://gobonextgen.org/Packages/017.01/GRUB-EFI--2.12-r1--x86_64.tar.bz2

This appears to have worked. Then I went through the Installer, and this time the installer finished.
(Only a warning about blockdevices was shown by grub, but I think this was unrelated to the
Installer).

I also simplified installation prior to this a bit, by having only one harddisc; and only one partition
on it, for ext4 (gpt).

However had when I rebooted, I got the blinking cursor and nothing else. I think another user
also reported this elsewhere.

I installed MBR into /dev/sda (or rather the GoboLinux equivalent... /System/Kernel/Devices/sda
I think) - whatever the first option was. From other, prior installations via gpt, I think we usually
need an EFI partition, say, 400MB in size, and then the rest. I also tried that before, having an EFI
partition before starting "Installer", but for some odd reason, the installer did not allow me to
select /dev/sda2 then; not sure why. I could only select sda1 and the flashdisc at sdb1 which
included the gobolinux (.iso) image.

Perhaps the installer needs some routine to check for EFI partition or something like that. I
remember that in the fedora and manjaro installer, they seem to check for this. So probably
some routine that can check for "can this harddisc layout work?", and if not, notify the user,
including recommendations what to do. (If this is too much work then perhaps a document
with more information may suffice.)

Anyway, just giving some quick feedback. I can try again at a later point in time.

This doesn't work. On UEFI/GPT you need a separate fat32 formatted partition for the ESP.

This is a qemu issue, not related to GoboLinux. Feel free to enhance it with GPT instructions.

Hi, I've now tried it according to the post by @rubyFeedback (InstallPackage.....) from LiveDVD.
During the first and second installation of the package, I was again given a choice of several options
[A]uto-merge/[V]iew/[U]se new/[S]kip/[L]ist/[M]erge and edit/[SA]Skip all
I chose "U".
Then I installed Gobo and everything went well. Gobo now starts normally, thanks!
My internet doesn't work in User mode (only in root mode), but I'll look into that another time.
