Unable to send recovery email due to a self signed certificate

Hello y'all.
I've been trying to set up recovery emails, but every time I try I get an error thrown in the console that basically says that it cannot send the email due to the SSL certificate of the URL of the smtp server being self-signed. How can I resolve this issue?
I am using NGINX and mailcow.
