Pocket Log

Pocket Log is a macOS menu bar app that uses Whisper.cpp to transcribe audio files.

• It runs in the background, automatically processing new audio files in the selected directories.
• It can transcribe recordings from the Apple Voice Memos app.
• One-click install from the App Store.
• It operates within the App Store sandbox and can only read and write to user-approved directories.
• Transcriptions are saved as HTML files.
• The text log can be copied and pasted into ChatGPT for summaries or searches.

This is a bit of an experiment at the moment, let me know if you have any suggestions.

I'm currently using it with a macOS Shortcut like this:

1. Control + Cmd + [Number] → Opens the Voice Memos folder and starts recording.
2. Cmd + Q → Closes the Voice Memos app.
3. Pocket Log automatically transcribes the recording.
4. At the end of the day or week, I summarize the log and add it to my notes.
