[Possibly a question:] Seemingly (1) reaching the settings from a PDF is involved, and (2) there is no setting to disable full-screen mode #12

  1. It seems to me that in order to get at the program's settings, when one is viewing a file, one must: work out that pulling up from the bottom will reveal controls; do that; press back; choose, er, 'open library'; then find the settings button; click that button. Closing the app and then restarting it does not make the settings more accessible. For, so doing returned me to the previous PDF that I was viewing (and, again - unless I miss something - there was no option to change that behaviour).

  2. It seem to me further that that there is no option to disable the hiding of the usual Android controls, i.e. to disable full-screen mode.

FBReader costless edition, version 3.6.6 on a Zenphone running Android 13.
