Firefox crashes on launch after latest update

After running a zypper in Gecko rolling a few days back Firefox crashed immediately on launching . . . seems like it has hit a number of users and so far doesn't seem like the devs have figured out how to fix the problem in OpenSUSE . . . . Downloading from the Firefox site seems to be the fix right now???

Ouch, that's pretty bad. Hopefully openSUSE will come up with a fix sooner rather than later.

Yes, it seems like somehow they mess up the user profile along with the loss of function. I see there are a couple more posts on the bug report . . . don't know if that is a solution or more devastation . . . . Not due to rotate back to Gecko until Thurs. . . . hoping it will be fixed by then??

Yeah, I've been having problems with the latest version of firefox too but not in Gecko (in Mint instead, which I also have installed). It just wouldn't launch but kept telling me it was running when I tried to launch it a second time. In the end I decided the only thing to do was to delete it and install a different browser instead.

I've just found a solution, but it may not work in every case. All this was in Mint;

I reinstalled Firefox after having deleted it the first time, and then tried to start it up again - same problem. I then hard deleted the profile in my home folder and tried once again, and this time it did start and worked well.
