Is there any way to receive messages as Erlang messages instead of calling czmq:zframe_recv_all/1 manually, just like an active TCP socket?

There is not - this is a polling scheme as it is over a port. However, it's
easy to poll in a loop, which will wait on messages from the port - and
then send them to a consumer.
