Support for macros and/or plugins

I come from AE and, as you know, there's a huge plugins ecosystem thanks to the API interactivity,

One of my main uses for it was automating part of typical workflows. For example, taking a path and adding a texture from an image by scaling the image, changing the opacity, adding a mask from the path and changing the blending to multiply.

Doing it manually took forever on big projects, so being able to do it with a custom plugin was really easy.

There's any support for plugins or macros that could support this kind of automation? Or is it expected to ever exist?

This also opens the door to a plugin hub/store. I am not that familiar with C++ to be able to help in this project but I know some web development, si I could help with that
