Description
There is the now the new chipset released by WCH. I checked the QFN48 version and its pin compatible to my understanding with the CH582M QFN48 that is used now.

The CH585 have higher speed then the current CH582. This should have general benefits for example when developing games. Also things like sound processing from the microphone and so on could benefit from the higher clock speed.
The USB speed have been updated. The size of data transferred over USB is not that relevant currently, but maybe it would get later with the flexibility the badgemagic hardware gives.
The CH585/584 have both much more RAM then the current CH582M.

If chip size matter, there are more options now. Before there was just the the CH582F(QFN28) that was smaller then the QFN48. Now there are many more options. But of course you loose functionality and have PCB design work when you reduce the pin count. So keeping the biggest size (QFN48) would be of course at best when the size of the WCH chip was not a problem.
