How fix the status column width?

With snacks enabled, my left status column causes my window to jump left and right depending on the presence of a flag. How can I get it to be fixed? (In general, I'm not sure how to apply my own settings when there is overlap... other than to disable "that part" of snacks).

This is probably because of the signcolumn. By default it's set to auto and it resizes according to if there are available signs to show in the statuscolumn or not. I think that's what's causing the shifting that you observe. If you set vim.opt.signcolumn = "yes" I think you won't observe the shifting any more.

@dpetka2001 Thank you for the response. I have vim.opt.signcolumn = "yes" in my nvim-settings.lua that gets sourced early in the process. snacks seems to overwrite this setting... So now I'm having to balance out what to just let snacks overwrite for good, vs... not-so-good :))

In this instance, I'm not sure snacks needs to take a POV, and thus should leave the setting to the user.

Finally, even when I do "reset" the value inside the config function callback, the text jumps around after lines 99. Something is funny in how the left-column value is being set.

snacks does not overwrite signcolumn.
Snacks however does provide a custom statuscolumn. If you don't like it, just don't enable it?

@folke -- Understood re the opt-out. The issue is that it bounces around after line 99. I wonder if there is a bug or something in the way the status column is being updated. Also, does it depend on the vim.opt.signcolumn value?
