What is the difference between lazy?

Hi,
There seems to be two lazyvim .

As a newbie, I am confused what is the difference? This one seems to have less features. Is it good thing or bad thing? :/

This one is just the plugin manager. It's used by users and distros in their configuration to manage plugins.

LazyVim is just a distro that also uses lazy.nvim (the plugin manager).

Well you will certainly will need a plugin manager and the more popular and used one is lazy.nvim according to my experience. LazyVim also uses lazy.nvim as its plugin manager.

I use the distro LazyVim myself and am happy with it. You can do whatever you want. Either use a distro like LazyVim (there are others as well and a simple google search will give you results) or just try to make your own custom config. There are many people on both sides.

It's all about what you feel more comfortable with. You can definitely try LazyVim and if you find out that you don't like it, you can switch to something else. Nothing is tying you down.

I am also using lazyvim but my problem is, they deviate away from cmp something and the plugins I use are depending on it. such as ray-x/go.nvim

Also, I see it opens up intellisense drop down alot which is PITA for me.

You can go back to nvim-cmp by enabling the Extra. It hasn't gone away completely. It's just not the default any more. Type :LazyExtras to open the menu for the Extras and then search for coding.nvim-cmp and then place your cursor on it and press x to enable it. After you restart LazyVim, it should install nvim-cmp and use that instead of blink.cmp.

If you don't like it, then you are free to use something else of course. I would recommend Astronvim or google what other Neovim distros exist, because there are more for sure but I don't remember them. Or you can start making your own custom config with only the plugins you like. Kickstart is a great tool for starting off with your custom config.
