How to simulate multi-port coherent excitation for an AWG?

Hi everyone,

I'm new to Tidy3D and I'm trying to simulate the output section of an AWG (the Rowland circle). To do this, I need to launch light from many waveguides at the same time, with a specific phase relationship between them.

What is the best way in Tidy3D to define multiple, coherent input sources in a single simulation? For example, can I use multiple ModeSource objects and set their phases individually?

Any examples would be very helpful.

You can certainly add multiple sources and they will add coherently! You can control the phase in the source_time argument of each source. I am not sure if we have an example with mode sources, but for example here we make a circularly-polarized source by combining two linearly-polarized sources with 90 degree difference in phase and polarization angle.
