Help Me Choose a Slogan!

I need your help.

I need a "slogan" or "catchphrase" to help summarize MultiMarkdown in a few words.

Something that gets the point across to someone who has never heard of, much less written, HTML, LaTeX, OpenDocument, etc.

Something to help convert someone from thinking that Microsoft Word is the only way (much less a good way) to create a document.

I posted an article to the discussion list with a few themes:

  • Simple
  • Plain text
  • Human readable
  • Portable
  • Multiple output formats

I've received a few suggestions so far (thanks, Sherwood!!), and want to get feedback and further ideas. I know many of MMD's users are much more creative than I am (does that mean I'm creative by proxy?) and want to leverage that to come up with something better than I would do on my own.

So feel free to add to this list or make tweaks, give feedback, suggestions and commentary --- just try not to delete anything, but you're welcome to reorder the list with your favorites near the top.

  • You can write something, or you can make it pretty. Don't do both at once.

  • Write first, then snaz it up.

  • Write in English, not in geek

  • Write for people, not your computer.

  • Distraction-free writing is bigger than somebody else's environment.

  • Distraction-free writing that's simple, platform independent, extensible, and also just plain free.

  • MMD: with all the power and ease of a text file.

  • You can write in words. Or you can spend <span class=foo> life</span> <b>writing</b> <em> lots of</em> <strong>tags</strong>

  • Ever notice how much html looks like how they represent swearing in comics?

  • Keyboard in. HTML, latex, PDF ... Out

  • MMD mapping / transforming easy to write text to text formatted for the web or paper.

  • MMD -- making it easy to write text for media like the web, slides, and paper.

  • You write, MMD transforms to popular formats.

  • You write, MMD produces.

  • Making good writing look good (the easy way)

  • Multimarkdown – Input for dummies, output like pros.
