How do I use Flameshot on an external monitor in macOS?

I am using Flameshot version 12.1.0 on a laptop running macOS 15.4. When using an external monitor, I can select a screenshot area in Flameshot only on the built-in display. Is the functionality for selecting an area for a screenshot on an external monitor generally there and working? Or does it not exist in principle?

Close flameshot (from the tray icon), connect your external monitor, start Flameshot again.

Flameshot at the moment cannot easily detect monitor changes.

Thanks, it helped. Are there plans to upgrade this functionality so that you don't have to close and open the app completely?

This is a known bug, and we have in the past discussed potential solutions, but they usually have some overhead load on the system (e.g., if we want to refresh the monitor configuration every N seconds.

At the moment we are working on some major features on Flameshot, namely migrating from Qt5 to Qt6 (which was merged some hours ago), and also a plugin system (so that users can write their own plugins).

This external monitor issue is in the todo list, but I cannot promise when we will get to it.
